Allan Kamau leads Weber Shandwick’s operation in East Africa and is a senior communications specialist with over 15 years’ experience in African media and strategic communications.
In his role, he oversees growth and operations for the firm’s Nairobi office. In addition, he supports a range of public and private sectors organisations with reputation-building activity and communications around complex market and development issues.
Allan joined Weber Shandwick in 2018 after four years as Head of Portland Communication’s Nairobi Office. Prior to that, he spent 10 years in London working in financial media and communications for companies including The Financial Times and africapractice.
Allan has worked in 14 African countries and advised a wide range of clients, including the Bill and Melinda Gates, Mo Ibrahim and Rockefeller Foundations, Coca-Cola, Prudential, The London Stock Exchange and a number of UN agencies, amongst others.
He is a regular writer on African business and finance and has been a speaker at numerous Africa business conferences around the world. He provides media commentary on business and African geo-politics – recent broadcast appearances include CNN, BBC World Service and CGTN.
